Novel Writing Update
Every story has a rhythm—one that starts slow, deliberate, and then gathers momentum. I’m thrilled to share that this current novel, which began as a quiet investigation, has steadily evolved into something far more layered, charged, and urgent.
The latest chapters have been among the most intense yet to write. The stakes are higher. The trust between characters is fraying. The narrative itself is starting to feel like a living thing—restless, watchful, and complicit.
The central mystery? Still very much intact. But now, certain pieces are clicking into place, and that satisfying oh no moment is creeping closer for everyone involved. What began as a probe into bureaucratic red tape has peeled back to reveal something much darker humming beneath the surface.
Without spoiling anything, I’ll say this: a trap was set. It snapped shut. And the consequences are rippling outward.
What’s surprised me most, though, is how much of this book has become a quiet (and sometimes not-so-quiet) meditation on love. Not romance—though elements of that exist—but love in its broader, more complicated forms: loyalty, trust, protection, sacrifice. What it means to love someone who may not be telling you the truth. How we define love when it no longer looks like what we hoped for. How recognition of love, in its rawest state, can still arrive too late—or change everything.
Characters are beginning to show their fault lines. Some are stepping up in ways I didn’t expect. Others are falling into shadow. One in particular has made a choice I’ve been dreading—and yet, it was inevitable. Another is walking a moral razor’s edge. Readers who love psychological tension and flawed-but-driven protagonists, this is for you.
It’s also been gratifying to build out the world’s infrastructure—everything from the legal complexities to the underground mechanics of wealth and silence. Every setting, every institution in the story has been carefully chosen, and now we’re beginning to see how they all connect.
